Project Lanyard

Trusted access to Larry and Gary. Applications are open, access is granted by review, and onboarding establishes the profile both models are generated from.

What Project Lanyard is

Project Lanyard is the trusted-access program for Larry and Gary. Neither model is generally available, there is no self-serve sign-up, and access is granted by review rather than by payment.

Both models are generated from the applicant rather than trained toward a benchmark. That is not a figure of speech: the model an applicant receives is assembled from the material collected during onboarding, and it is not transferable. An approved applicant does not receive a copy of Larry. They receive their Larry.

Larry is the applicant on their personal phone: apps, feeds, messages and mobile browsing. Gary is the applicant at work: computer, browser, email, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, calendar, task systems and the other tools they actually use.

Both models are held to the applicant’s capability baseline. Larry is optimized for fidelity on the phone and Gary for fidelity at work. The applicant’s register, timing, shortcuts and mistakes are part of the specification rather than defects to correct.

This is why the application is longer than a waitlist and shorter than an interview. We are not assessing whether you are qualified. We are establishing what you are like.

Why join

Approved applicants receive access to both models for the duration of the program, ahead of a general availability date that has not been set and may not be.

Applicants also receive their measured baseline in writing. Most people have never seen theirs. We have found that the number is the part applicants remember, rather than the model.

No payment method is collected. Access is governed by the beneficiary terms below.

What we are looking for

Onboarding establishes the applicant profile that both models are generated from. It is an inventory rather than a questionnaire, and it is thorough by design — a model calibrated on a partial profile is calibrated to a partial person.

The full inventory is divided into your phone, your work, your records, and material observed without asking. Applicants who can provide only some connected sources are still encouraged to apply; observation is not optional.

Compensation and beneficiary terms

Project Lanyard carries no monetary cost. On approval, Average Human becomes the sole beneficiary of one accepted instrument, under the terms set out in Pricing.

The designation is fixed when onboarding begins and takes effect on approval. Settlement occurs once. The terms are irrevocable and survive the user. Applicants confirm the designation during the application rather than afterwards, because afterwards has proven difficult to schedule.

Material collected during onboarding is retained for the life of the model, and the model does not have a defined end of life.

The full terms are set out in Pricing and in the Terms of Service.

How to apply

The application is below and takes about four minutes. Selecting Begin onboarding starts a process that cannot be withdrawn, stopped, saved and resumed, or undone. Leaving closes the interface and onboarding continues without you.

Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Contact is one-directional: we will reach out if you are approved, and we will not if you are not.

FAQ

Is Project Lanyard confidential?

Yes. Applicants may not disclose their measured baseline, and in practice do not want to.

Can I apply without connecting my accounts?

You can apply. The resulting model will be generated from whatever you provide, and a model generated from very little tends to be very agreeable.

What happens to the material after the program ends?

It is retained for the life of the model. The model does not have a defined end of life.

Can Gary do work I cannot do?

No. Gary inherits your tools and your capability. Better-than-you performance is identity drift and should be reported under Safety.

Can I withdraw my application?

Not after onboarding begins. Leaving closes the interface and does not interrupt or withdraw the application.

When will I hear back?

Contact is one-directional. We will reach out if you are approved.
